Spring is coming to Central Oregon and with the emergence of tulips and daffodils we are seeing a trend of tenants moving and the rental housing market stabilizing. Single-family homes are in demand and we are also seeing a trend in migration from home ownership to rental housing.
COROA is working hard on behalf of our membership. Board member Terry Flora Turner attended the Oregon Rental Housing Assoc. state legislative meeting in Salem last month and briefed us on the plethora of bills presented that may affect landlords. It appears the court fees will increase 100% effective July 1, 2011, and that will make it more expensive to recover damages on landlord-tenant related issues. The State government is looking for ways to reduce the budget deficit and this is one of many ideas.
On April 26, 2011, our COROA class will be on home fire safety tips and how to comply with the smoke detector-carbon monoxide regulations, including what monitoring devices are available and where they need to be installed. See the registration form in this newsletter.
Membership numbers are up for our association, and we welcome the new members that have joined us. Thank you to all of you for putting your trust in your Board of Directors, who individually donate many hours each month to make this organization successful and a strong resource for rental owners.
Enjoy the nice weather and don’t forget to look for the daffodils!
Sincerely,
