Happy Holidays! Happy New Year!
I love this time of year! The holidays help us focus on our blessings and loved ones. In spite of these hard economic times, we are all blessed!
The New Year is a time for looking forward to new beginnings, change and better economic times.
The State of Oregon has created some interesting changes for landlords. New laws are going into effect January 1, 2010 that will modify the fees that can be charged to tenants and how "Notices to Vacate" are timed. I am not sure any of these changes are "landlord friendly." Look for a summary of changes to be released soon.
Be sure to plan to attend COROA's January 26th meeting "All You Need to Know about Owing Investment Property from an IRS Point of View." CPA Greg Fowler will present an information-packed program of Record Keeping, Depreciation, and Tax Advantages of Rental Ownership. He will also touch on 1031 Tax Deferred Exchanges.
I wish you all the blessings of the season and hope to see you at our January 26th class. 2010 promises to be an exciting year for all!
Happy Holidays,
Lawnae Hunter
