“Landlords of Central Oregon are seeing light at the end of the tunnel”
Rents are on the increase, especially single family homes. Many of these properties are receiving multiple applications. Recently, the news media has reported huge rent increases, and stories that paint a picture of sky rocking rents. I think it is safe to say this is “over zealous” reporting, as rents are on a slow, steady increase but not spiking.
If you own five or more units in one location you should check out the free – yes, free - energy retrofit available to you through the Energy Trust of Oregon. They will send in a team to change showerheads, faucets and inspect heaters at no cost to the owner. Education is a benefit of COROA membership, and we begin our Summer/Fall series of classes on Tuesday, August 23rd, with “Screening New Tenants,” an interesting and timely topic. The September 27th class will be “Fair Housing” with representatives from the Fair Housing Council of Oregon as special guest speakers. In October, COROA will hold a special daytime class for licensed property managers entitled “Accounting Rules for Property Managers.” We will also have our regular fourth Tuesday evening meeting – we’ll announce the topic shortly. We strive to bring you quality, fast paced classes and to serve a light dinner to kick off the meeting. Don’t miss out on this valuable COROA membership benefit.
