COROA Annual Dinner
Last month we had our COROA annual dinner to announce the results of our 2009 rental survey. Almost 4000 units in Central Oregon were reported on this year, and we feel it has improved the accuracy of the survey over last year’s, which reflected only about 2100 units. About 40 of us enjoyed a delicious dinner, and also had the privilege of hearing Roger Lee from EDCO (Economic Development of Central Oregon) talk about the latest business climate in Central Oregon.
This dinner is my favorite meeting that COROA has all year. The whole meeting is dedicated to the business of owning rentals and networking with other rental owners. It’s not about tenants, tenant problems, laws or rules. Those are all good things to learn about, and we do have numerous classes throughout the year on those topics, but once a year I like to learn good info on vacancies and the state of the economy to help plan for the coming year. I really encourage everyone to attend next year’s dinner. You won’t regret it.
Change In Presidency
Now for the next topic: I have decided to resign as president of COROA. Recently I accepted a contracting job that will take a lot of my time. As most of you know, my wife and I take care of our own rentals, so between the rentals and this job, it’s about all I can comfortably handle. In these economic times a person can’t turn down a good contracting job. I feel blessed to have the opportunity.
Being the president of COROA for the last 22 months has been a great experience and a lot of fun. I want to thank the other board members for allowing me to work with them and helping me with my job as COROA president. In the future, when (and if) my life calms down, I would like a chance to return as president. I plan to remain on the COROA board of directors. At the time of this writing, we don’t yet know who will be replacing me. Watch the future newsletters.
Thanks for all your support Terry Luelling
