Trick or Treat?
Are we talking about an October 31 holiday or rental property ownership? Both can be ghoulish at times, and both can be replete with sweet rewards. Is your rental property ownership experience a treat? Are you being tricked, or are you employing the “tricks of the trade” for a successful outcome?
These questions are at the heart of my belief and endorsement of COROA. There was a time when I was new to the Landlord game, and that was a scary time. I wasn’t sure what goblins and ghosts awaited a misstep on my part. I didn’t know that some people wore costumes to hide their true intent. Ignorance was definitely not bliss.
But today, being a landlord is not scary because of the education and experience I have been fortunate to acquire… often from friends and colleagues who had traveled or were traveling that same path through that dark and spooky forest. That forest is not dark and spooky today… the full moon clearly illuminates the path and I am able to remain safe and secure. I tell you this because I want the same for you. Sure, I encounter goblins occasionally, but I (in most cases, ha) am confident in my ability to handle the situation and myself appropriately.
I also know that in COROA, I have a network of others to turn to for support, advice, and guidance. COROA is a wonderful treat! Take a big bite of the COROA apple - it is delicious!
Oregon Rental Housing Association
I had the opportunity last month to attend an all day planning session and board meeting with our parent organization, ORHA. It was enlightening, to say the least. It is comforting to know that we are part of a statewide membership of engaged and active members, and that we are part of a collective voice much bigger than our own. We are working hard at the state level to enact legislation that is beneficial to landlords and rental property owners. We are committed to this process and to your rights as a landlord! We remain vigilant against those who would trespass on your rights. We have a voice… YOU have a voice!
I hope that you all enjoyed our September class on Fair Housing. The attendance was high and it was a smashing success. I hope to see you at October’s class on “Tenant/Landlord Tune-up” as well. I as always, welcome your thoughts and suggestions on improvements to our services or format, and encourage your active participation in the process.
Be Well!
